Suicide is ranked the tenth leading cause of death in the United States across all aged groups. In individuals who are between 15 and 35 years of age it is ranked the second leading cause of death. These statistics are alarming. They greatly emphasis the need for practitioners,and agencies to understand the common characteristics of suicide.
This 3-hour comprehensive Continuing Education Course will provide an in-depth look at “Suicide Preparedness For Mental Health Professionals”. Participants who attend this workshop will be made knowledgeable of suicide assessment tools as it relate to different settings and practice needs. In addition, participants will explore techniques for effectively engaging caregivers,and families in risk reductions. Facilitators will highlight community resources for prevention, and intervention strategies.
The District of Columbia, and Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners certifies that this program meets the criteria for 3 credit hours of Category 1 Continuing Education for licensed social workers.
