Description

Grief After Suicide Loss

11/3/2017
9-12 a.m.

The grief journey is always difficult. But a loss through suicide stands alone, and can be especially traumatic. People coping with this loss often need more support than others, but may get less. Survivors may be reluctant to share that the death was self-inflicted and when others know the circumstances of the death, they may feel uncertain about how to offer help. Therefore, survivors of suicide loss may turn to professional support. This workshop will prepare you to confidently work with this type of loss.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn common grief reactions after suicide death
  • Learn activities that address difficult emotions and unfinished business
  • Identify the consequences of sudden loss and experience of complex grief
