Event description

Description

The Sugarloaf Uphill Climb returns during Homecoming Weekend 2018 on Sunday, October 7th.

The Race

Just like our founders, Amos Winter and the Bigelow Boys, you'll be trudging up the mountain with your hands, legs and heart. This is no cake walk. You'll run from the base of Sugarloaf to the summit (about 2400 vertical feet). You'll sweat. You'll gasp for breathe. And in the end, you'll have tackled the toughest mountain run in Maine.

This race will occur rain or shine, please dress appropriately and bring plenty of extra layers for the summit. A racer bag transport vehicle will be provided to take all racers belongings from the start line to the summit finish line. The bag transport vehicle will leave from the start line 10 minutes before the race begins. Your belongings will be delivered to the finish line, please mark your bag – we are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items. After your trek to the top, you'll descend halfway down the mountain to Bullwinkle's where a hearty lunch and cold beverages will be served. Under 21 must present valid ID. The awards ceremony will take place as soon as final results are in for all categories. There is no transportation down the mountain following the race, please plan accordingly. Vehicle transport will only be provided for any injured or medically un-fit athletes. No racers will be allowed on-course who have not registered, received a bib or signed a liability release.
