Event description

Description

With its focus on knowledge of the self and love for God, Sufism has managed to transcend earthly divisions of mindsets and touch hearts across cultures, regions, and religions. The spread of Sufism in the 8th-9th centuries C.E. brought with it some of the most famous and beautiful poetry, ritual, and devotional music by notable Sufis including Rumi, Hafiz, Amir Khusro, and many more. This event will showcase Sufi teachings, music, and dance of several regions of the world, through a combination of performance and education. Sufism takes away the boundaries which divide different faiths by bringing into full light the underlying wisdom in which they are all united. The schedule will include:

- Sufism and Sacred Sound Meditation by Sheikh Taoshobuddha
- Music and Dance of India by Rimi Basu and Musicians
- Music of Persia by Amir Vahab Ensemble
- Introduction to Shakti Institute for Arts and Culture, Reed Society for Sacred Arts
