One hundred years ago, the Suffragists risked their lives so American women could play their part in the greatest social experiment the world has ever known. While much has been achieved, the country is deeply divided. We have unfinished business that must be addressed and unprecedented new challenges that must be met.
Women have been under attack and do not have equal justice under the law. Voter suppression is threatening to roll back the hard won gains of the civil rights era. Big money is impacting elections at every level, pitting us against each other to accomplish an agenda that supports corporations and special interests.
The Constitution must uphold the rights of every citizen, regardless of gender, race, or economic status. While each generation before us has done its part to fulfill this legacy, we are at a critical tipping point. How we proceed from here is of the greatest importance. The eyes of the world are upon us.
We must pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
Voting rights must be protected.
Citizens United must be overturned.
In the tradition of the Suffragists, join us for a week of silent vigil. We will be stationed at the Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the White House from Sunday, January 29th through Saturday, February 4th. Come for as long as you can. Your presence will make a difference.
Send a message that will reach our new President and touch the hearts and minds of legislators and justices. Take a stand to achieve a government that is of, by, and for the people. See you there.
