ABOUT THE ARTIST

Genre: Folk

Chicago singer-songwriter Sue Fink has been enchanting audiences since 2001 with her whimsical perspective on the world. Her genre is folk with a hint of jazz, a large dollop of humor, and a drop of sadness for good measure. She performs solo, as a duo (CatBird), and as a trio (SongSisters), mostly in the Midwest, and has toured both coasts.

This show celebrates the release of Sue’s third full-length solo album, “Treasures & Time Travel.” Like its predecessors, “Damsel in Distress” (2006) and “Thoughts at an Intersection” (2009), it’s orchestrated by some of Chicago’s finest musicians, and is engineered and co-produced by Bruce Roper (Sons of the Never Wrong).

This album explores the relationship we have to the treasures we keep, and memories they allow us to revisit – if only for a moment. While Sue shares her own treasures, she finds that her songs encourage listeners to revisit their own memories. Sue also ponders our search for connection in this vast universe.

The new CD, long in the making, is an art project in itself: the booklet contains full lyrics, with corresponding photos of art and nature – and other spirit-candy. To celebrate, this will be a full-band show, including John Abbey (bass), Bob Long (keys), Jordi Kleiner (violin), and Meg Thomas (percussion) – who also appear throughout Sue’s new album. There will be other guest musicians and surprises as well.
