Event description
Learn to tune into the healing wisdom of plants in this succulent arranging workshop for survivors!

About this Event

FORCE is excited to announce our Hike for Healing 2020 workshop series! Local Baltimore artists, herbalists, energy workers, and more are donating their time and expertise to benefit our Hike for Healing fundraiser. We are honored to be working with Gibbous Gathering and Anna Kunnirickal this month in Succulent Arrangement for Healing!

Communicating with and caring for plants can be extremely healing for trauma survivors. In this workshop, you will learn about succulent plant care & build a succulent arrangement using decorative sand, rocks, and an unconventional planter. All materials will be provided. You will walk away with your own succulent arrangement and the knowledge to care for it!

Anna Kunnirickal is a member of the Gibbous Gathering. The Gibbous Gathering is a social healing group for victim-survivors of assault, intimate partner violence, abuse, or trauma. It is a low-pressure environment to level up with a new skill, teach others your amazing skills, socialize at your own pace and relish in the medicine of love and laughter. Those who share a skill will be compensated for materials via intergroup donations. This space centers people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, & women. Gibbous Gathering is a space dedicated to victim-survivors of trauma (sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, abuse, traumatic events, generational trauma) only. All people identified with or affected by those experiences are welcome.

Anna Kunnirickal (@akunnirick) is a freelance illustrator and arrangement designer working out of Baltimore, MD. she began working with plants as a way to heal and now seeks to share that healing with others. FORCE has been honored to work with her as a volunteer since 2019!

There are only 8 tickets available to this event so get one soon if you’re interested! Tickets are $25-45 sliding scale and 100% of proceeds go to Hike for Healing, FORCE’s annual fundraiser. We ask you be as generous as you can in honor of Anna’s skills and a good cause!

Hike for Healing is a national day of action to show support for survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. By participating in Hike for healing, you are both taking an action to support survivors, and investing in the prevention of future violence through FORCE’s Youth Voices for Consent program!

Your contributions will directly support Youth Voices for Consent by creating opportunities for Baltimore youth to explore creative career opportunities for social change. This paid, youth-led program offers young people the chance to discuss issues of power and consent while creating innovative campaigns through art. The team already has several projects underway, including a collaboration with a local middle school that is teaching consent, a short film, and a mural in the Waverly neighborhood. To do all of this, we need to raise funds to cover stipends and purchase of equipment and art supplies. Between now and March 14th, we hope to raise $50,000.

By joining Hike for Healing, you help us to sustain our youth residency program and to empower young people who are creating long-lasting solutions to end violence.

We hope you can support us by donating to the cause, joining the Baltimore Hike for Healing, and/or organizing your own Hike for Healing in your community! Want to be a part?
