Share Successful Project Management Stories by The Regional Municipality of York

Event Details

Event Information:

Wanting to help makes a successful project: “Sincerely wanting to help someone makes a successful project. And life is a project.”

All projects have start dates and end dates and unique outcomes, but what makes a successful project? Is it simply following the plan or is there more? Mark believes there’s more, and it’s sincerely wanting to help someone that makes a successful project. In this presentation, Mark will share project management stories gathered over the years while managing large transportation infrastructure projects, and how the attitude of “wanting to help” increases the likelihood of project success. Stories include the $100 Million 2nd Concession Project, recipient of four Project of the Year awards, and the $40 Million Bayview Corridor Project, recipient of five Project of the Year awards. Both projects have been recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario, York Chapter.

Project Stories:

• Doane Road and the hill
• Mary and parking
• Don and his maple trees
• Robert and the hydro wires
• The 2nd Concession Project and engagement
• The Bayview Corridor Project and collaboration

We are pleased to invite back our 2017/2018 Large-Size Category Winner The Regional Municipality of York. Mark will share his experience from applying and winning our 2017 and 2018 Engineering Project of the Year Awards. And how the winning projects went ahead and won multiple other Project of the Year Awards.

PEO York Chapter Engineering Project of the Year Award is an annual Engineering Project competition set to recognize the contribution, to both the engineering profession and the local community, by an organization that has undertaken and completed outstanding Engineering Project within the past year.
