We will also be sending a confirmation email a few weeks before the training to ask that you reconfirm your intention to attend this SAPST Training in order that we can let people on the Waiting List into class if space becomes available.

ONLINE INTRODUCTION TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION: UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS

5 hours credit for online coursework prior to the face-to-face training: This foundational course offers practitioners New to the field of prevention, or working in related fields, an introduction to the history of primary prevention, key concepts and definitions, specific drug effects, and an informative glimpse into the effects of substance use and addiction on the brain.

Registrants will receive a Welcome Letter with Overall Training Logistics and Online Course Completion Instructions on/around January 31, 2019.

IN-PERSON SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION SKILLS TRAINING: February 20-22, 2019

This 3-day foundational training addresses an overview of the following primary prevention topics through instruction and interactive activity in a group setting:

¨ Behavioral health

¨ Institute of Medicine’s Continuum of Care

¨ Public Health approach

¨ Risk and protective factors

¨ Developmental perspective

¨ Application of SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework: assessment, capacity, planning,

implementation, and evaluation

¨ Cultural competence and sustainability

Participants will receive two certificates documenting a total of 31 training hours – one for 5 hours (upon completion of the online course) and one for 26 hours (upon completion of the in-person training).

These certificates can be submitted to your respective credentialing authority responsible for providing certification or approving professional learning credit.

This training is required for CCPS II certification in Colorado.
