Description

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries are thrilled to host a Star Wars Day celebration, with a Star Wars Symposium, organised by Dr Lincoln Geraghty.

Celebrating Star Wars Day through discussion and debate this symposium will offer us the opportunity to interrogate why the franchise has been so successful and how much it has impacted on popular culture.

Speakers include Dr William Proctor (Bournemouth University), Dr Megen de Bruin-Molé (University of Southampton), and Dr Matthew Freeman (Bath Spa University).

Papers will focus on a range of topics including, fandom, Disney, the transmedia paratexts of Star Wars, and initial findings and a progress report from The World Star Wars Project.

There will be a special screening in the afternoon, introduced by staff from the School of Media and Performing Arts, followed by a Star Wars themed quiz with prizes!

The day will begin at 9.30am in ELW 1.09, and will end at 6.00pm.

The day will include, 20 minute papers and discussion, lunch, a special screening with introduction, plus a quiz!

You can find a schedule of the day here.
