Student Workshop 1: Clinical Improvisation Techniques 1

Tuesday 20 March, 6-8pm

In this workshop we will isolate basic improvisation skills needed for therapy. We will also discuss the context for using improvisation as a therapeutic technique. You will walk away from this workshop being able to:

Play two modes on the piano

Use an interval as a basis for an improvisation

Lead an improvisation with another attendee

Identify clinical applications for the use of improvisation

Student Workshop 2: Technology for Music Therapy 1

Tuesday 17 April, 6-8pm

A practical workshop for the application of current music technologies; apps and assistive devices for therapy including using GarageBand Music Software for therapeutic song writing and recording. You will walk away with;

Confidence in incorporating assistive devices therapeutically

A tool box of ideas for technologies use in music therapy sessions

An understanding of what GarageBand is and what it can do, including producing a basic recording with an another attendee
