Event description

Description

An engaging way to have students generate rubrics for evaluation of their work and peer work to be used in the classroom. This workshop will demonstrate the value of rubrics in a Montessori classroom as well as a catchy way to introduce rubrics to your students for the first time. Takeaways include how to introduce students to rubrics, how to support students as they generate rubrics, and rubrics that work for individual work as well as small group work.

Rubrics support personal ownership of the work for students as well as peer-to-peer teaching. Reflection on one's own work is an important aspect of valorization and rubrics are a useful tool to accomplish this. The goal of this workshop is to demystify rubrics and put into the hands of the teachers the needed tools to coach the students in how to benefit from a well-structured rubric.

This workshop is geared to those working with children in grades 5-8.

This workshop will include free breakfast.

This event is FREE to BAMA members, and $35 for non-members. BAMA membership is $35 per year and includes FREE admission to all of our workshops for that academic year. Please see our website for more info.

*Note: this workshop will be taking place at the same time as the Material Making workshop with Megan Walker. Both workshops will be held at The Renaissance School.
