Event Details

Join SCA and Whole Foods Market for a day of volunteer service at The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park in Pittsburgh. The Environmental Charter School is the first environmentally themed public K-8 school in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Students learn to be critical thinkers and well-rounded scholars by using environmental content to build core skills across all disciplines. The school’s Garden is nestled in a beautiful Frick Park. Volunteers will work to weatherize the school garden, maintain Frick Park trails, and remove invasive plants.

This volunteer service is also one hundreds of International Green Apple Day of Service projects coordinated locally by the Green Building Alliance to create healthy and high performing places for all children to learn and play. For more information on Green Apple Day of Service and to learn how you can get involved, check out www.mygreenapple.org or contact SCA Fellow, Clara Kitongo at ClaraK@gbapgh.org

When: Saturday, September 14th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Where: The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park (829 Milton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15218). Volunteers can park in the back lot of the school or along the fence of turtle park where it states “visitor parking”. Please keep Henrietta Street clear and available to residents.

What: Winterizing the garden, mulching, and invasive removal
