Stronger Together WNY Book Club: "David and Goliath" by Malcolm Gladwell
Wed, May 17, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM EDT
Join Stronger Together WNY for a casual discussion of David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling GIants, by Macolm Gladwell. Dr. Shira Gabriel leads us in this exploration of what it takes to triumph against overwhelming odds—and how understanding the science of human behavior can help us take advantage of our strengths, identify weaknesses in the opposition, and approach our activism more effectively.
Dr. Shira Gabriel is an Associate Professor of Psychology at SUNY, University at Buffalo. She is a Social Psychologist and internationally renowned expert on the social nature of the self. Dr. Gabriel is the editor of Self & Identity, the primary journal of the International Society for Self & Identity. She has received funding for her research from the Templeton Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the Russell Sage Foundation. Dr. Gabriel received her PhD in Social Psychology from Northwestern University in 2000. In her spare time, Dr. Gabriel likes to be with her family and friends, watch reality TV, and smash the patriarchy.
Book Drive: At this meeting, we’ll also be collecting new/used children’s books for Books Incorporated, a group that provides free books to kids in the Niagara Falls area.
