Strong Towns Curbside Chat
Event Information
Description
Based in Minnesota, Strong Towns is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that helps America's towns achieve financial strength and resiliency. Representatives of the organization travel the nation and the digisphere to promote a complete understanding of the costs that are associated with our communities' methods of growth and advocate for addressing those costs via productive changes in our pattern of development.
We invite you to join us on January 7th at the Storefront for Urban Innovation in Philadelphia to learn more about this organization's efforts to advocate for:
- A new model of growth that allows America’s towns to become financially strong and self-sufficient.
- An approach that accounts for the full cost of growth.
- A reorientation of emphasis from horizontal expansion of cities to obtaining greater use of existing public investments.
- An end to the inefficient use of public dollars and the destructive subsidies that create massive, unfunded maintenance liabilities for future generations.
The Curbside Chat program is a Strong Towns initiative to stimulate dialogue at a local level about the impact of macroeconomic changes on the way cities, towns, and neighborhoods prosper. Join Next City in welcoming Strong Towns and kicking off their tour of Pennsylvania at the Storefront. The presentation will begin at noon, and Q&A will follow.
