Strike! Digital Sabotage with Grayson Earle

Join Tech Resident Alum Grayson Earle to expand on digital and online modes of activism. Due to the nature of the ongoing pandemic, we will discuss ways in which artists and activists have considered new online contexts and how we might do the same. Recent notable examples include TikTok activist @black_madness21’s software that automatically applies to Kellogg’s with fake information in the wake of their union-busting, and Tega Brain & Sam Lavigne’s Synthetic Messenger software that artificially inflates ad revenue for climate change-related articles.

Date: This virtual workshop will meet once on Thursday, April 28 from 12-1pm EST.

Grayson Earle is a new media artist and educator. He is the co-creator of Bail Bloc and a member of The Illuminator art collective. He is currently participating in the Berlin Program for Artists. His work uses the context of art to materialize ideas and forms surrounding the role that digital technologies and networks can play in protest and political agency. He exhibits inside and outside of traditional art spaces, working with guerrilla video projection, cryptocurrency, machine learning, simulation, sculpture, and the internet.
