Description

Strike a Prose: Elementary School Edition

Creative Writing Inspired by “Contemporary Americans”

Saturday, Feb. 29, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

G Street Lobby

In this creative writing workshop, we will write stories inspired by the portraits of American icons such as Michelle Obama, LL Cool J, and others who are featured in the National Portrait Gallery exhibition “Contemporary Americans.” We will learn how to develop characters, create conflict and action, and use our imagination to write exciting stories. Open to elementary school students (in 4th-6th grade). Fee: $12 (includes registration for one child and one adult)

Led by local writer Willona Sloan, this workshop is open to writers of all levels who are in the 4th-6th grade. Materials are provided.

Please plan to arrive at the 8th and G Street, NW entrance at 9:45am so we may begin promptly at 10:00am. Because this workshop begins prior to public hours, those more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted into the museum.
