Strictly: The Night

Press release

A Night of Ballroom and Latin Dances, Fine Dining and Live Music.

In March 2017, Dove House Hospice hosted their annual Strictly Learn to Dance event in which 24 amateur dancers take on 12 weeks of training before performing in a grand finale in front of an audience of thousands, all to raise money for the charity. The event was a huge success, with over £34,000 raised.

Now, participants of Strictly Learn to Dance 2017 have decided to host their own evening of dance extravaganza to try and raise even more money for Dove House. Mike Dobsonand Richard Clark are passionate about the work Dove House does and saw an opportunity to utilise the skills of the newly trained dancers to help them in their fundraising efforts.

Mike Dobson, the lead organiser of the event said “We were all bitten by the fundraising bug when dancing for Dove House. We found a lasting passion for dance, thanks to Ballroom Blitz Dance Academy and the hospice themselves, and we took to dance lessons with desire to carrying on supporting Dove House.”

The event has been named "Strictly: The Night" and will be held at the Mercure Hotel in Willerby on the 3rd February 2018. The night has been supported by local businesses and volunteers and promises to be an unmissable event. "Strictly: The Night" welcomes people of all ages to come and enjoy an evening with classic ballroom and latin dances retold to modern music, whilst enjoying the culinary delights that The Mercure Grange Park have to offer.

Mike teases that there will be lots of new surprises in store for those who attended the original Strictly show back in March: "Many of the 2017 contestants have chosen to further develop their skills attending classes at Ballroom Blitz, ran by Janine Badger principle choreographer of Strictly Learn to Dance. This means the level of dance on show will be of a great standard. There will also be some new songs and dances that people haven't seen before"

The evening will come to a close with guests having the chance to grace the dancefloor themselves, as local band At Circles End perform.

"We want to raise as much money as possible for Dove House Hospice and this evening is a great way for people to make a difference whilst having a great time" Mike said.
