Course I - HR Foundations: Structural and Legal Basics

Participants will:

  • Possess a general level knowledge in the growing field of Human Resource Management
  • Have the ability to review and apply the basics of employment law
  • Have a working knowledge of core HR functions, compliance, and the role of key HR tools to include an employee handbook

Course II - HR Techniques: People-centered Culture

Participants will:

  • Have working knowledge of performance management best practices and related tools
  • Identify strong practices for recruitment, hiring, and compensation relevant to your organizational environment
  • Have the ability to create or update an effective job description
  • Have working knowledge of the basics of workplace culture and employee relations

This training is designed for:

  • CDFI staff responsible for human resources, operations, or organizational leadership
  • Emerging mission-based lenders building internal systems and teams
  • Business support organizations (such as TA providers and entrepreneurship centers) seeking to strengthen their HR practices as they grow

Shannon Mick is a seasoned Human Resource, Culture, and Management Consultant with over 25 years of experience across both the private and public sectors. She holds an MBA in Executive Leadership and a BA in Human Resources, and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). Shannon has worked with a diverse range of organizations—including Chase, DSW, RCAC, Tribal Governments, and healthcare systems—bringing deep expertise in HR operations, compliance, and organizational culture.
