Please join us on Tuesday, March 7th for an intimate discussion with Gerardo Pisarello Prados, First Deputy Mayor of Barcelona on enhancing partnership between two of the world's leading smart cities--Barcelona and New York. Mr. Pisarello will be joined by representives of the New York City Mayor's Office and NYC Economic Development Corporation who will share details on the City's ongoing work to accelerate smart city efforts and help support companies operating in this growing sector. The event will also include several lightning pitches from local smart city companies and an update on the Smart Cities NYC '17 event to be held May 3-6 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Born in Argentina in 1970, Mr. Pisarello has lived in Barcelona since 2001. He holds a Ph.D. in Law and he is a Professor in Constitutional Law at the University of Barcelona. Mr. Pisarello is currently First Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council and is responsible for Economy, Work, and Strategy. He is also in charge of International Relations and Global Justice, Historical Memory, and Technology and Digital Innovation. He is President of Barcelona Activa, the municipal local development agency, the Municipal Institute of Finance, as well as the Municipal Institute of Informatics. As author of several works on constitutionalism, human rights and the right to the city, he has published “Vivienda para todos. Un derecho en (de)construcción” (2003); “Los derechos sociales y sus garantías” (2007); “La ofensiva del constitucionalismo antidemocrático” (2011) and “Procesos constituyentes. Caminos para la ruptura democrática” (2012). For more than ten years he has been Vice-President of the Observatory of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (Observatori DESC).
