Street Love Ride: Rolling Deep for Peace in North Lawndale

The goal of the "Street Love” 9 mile, 2 hour ride is to bring together about 1,000 cyclists to symbolize peace and unity in North Lawndale. This is more than a demonstration of peace, this is also designed to send a message to those on the streets that there is a positive community ready to embrace them when they are ready for something different.

We represent a positive community on two wheels, riding through North Lawndale to share peace, love, and light. This ride is for community members, peace activists, bicycle enthusiasts - All are welcome to ride!

The event will kick off with a community expo and cookout for North Lawndale residents and ride participants at 5pm at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 3147 W Douglas Blvd, Chicago (near Douglas and Kedzie).

At 8pm we will begin our 9 mile bicycle love journey through North Lawndale, ultimately circling back to St. Agatha Catholic Church where we will conclude with refreshments, a community discussion, and a call to action for us all to play a role in bringing peace to our streets.

The Street Love ride is hosted in partnership with Equiticity and with the support of Working Bikes, the Lawndale Christian Fitness Center, Ride Illinois, and St. Agatha Church.

We are grateful to our sponsors for this ride: Lyft/Divvy, St. Anthony Hospital, and Sam Schwartz, as well as the YWCA as part of their Census 2020 effort to make sure every person is counted!

The planners are working to have health volunteers on-site to screen participants and distribute masks and hand sanitizer. Stronger together (even when safely apart)!
