STREAM - a Creative Workshop by MUCK (Must Use Critical Knowledge)
Event Information
About this Event
Stream is an experimental and collaborative knowledge exchange.
It will be hosted on 16 Nicholson Street's Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/16NicholsonSt
We invite you to reflect on a live stream of Matthew Rimmer’s Biotope installed in the Botanical Gardens, Glasgow. Using the live comments section in YouTube, a collective textual response will emerge to the biotope and its converging themes. The workshop is virtually hosted by MUCK with references and source materials gathered and shared by The Nature Library.
To feed is to ruminate. The Biotope ruminates on the unseen life of Scottish waters, asking us to comprehend the materialities of water species, water bodies and the possibilities of liquidity as an anti-Capitalist ideology. The live stream transmits the biotope to the remotely situated human body. Accessing this feed of knowledge requires a mutual position between the feeder and the fed.
'Stream' invites you to respond to these themes on Facebook, utilising the platform’s real time collection of data as a fluid method of establishing a waterfall/stream of comments that will go on to comprise a collective text. MUCK will present floating themes for workshop goers to hook onto and sink into, asking you to submit your thoughts via the comments section of the live feed. This text will be edited, and then published by 16 Nicholson Street and presented as part of Matthew Rimmer’s ‘AIR DIVING’ exhibition running from Fri, Feb 19, 2021 to Sun, Mar 7, 2021.

About Us:
Matthew Rimmer makes aquariums that are more beneficial to the specimen than the spectator, extending aquariums out of natural bodies of water and using materials to naturally purify water, recalibrating the assumed sense of ownership over the natural environment.
16 Nicholson Street Gallery is a Glasgow-based, non-profit arts facilitation space run by a curatorial collaborative constituting Aga Paulina Młyńczak, Isabella Shields and Nell Cardozo.
Must Use Critical Knowledge is a fledgling library currently existing online that supports and promotes text dedicated to untangling hegemonic knowledge claims.
The Nature Library is a reference library and reading space connecting people to land, sky and sea. The Nature Library aims to take its visitors somewhere new — to the edge of the sea, into the mountain or to the top of the tallest tree.
