Description

During this day-long PD session, with the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Beasley, teachers will study the work of Marilee Sprenger. Sprenger asserts that students MUST understand the critical vocabulary of the Common Core State Standards to perform well on standardized tests. Teachers will learn about memory stages and how to effectively utilize them when teaching vocabulary. Additionally, teachers will learn strategies that are effective in each memory stage, as well as strategies to scaffold struggling students and ELL students. Based on Sprenger’s book, 101 Strategies to Make Academic Vocabulary Stick.
