Event description

Description

Communicating our message about economic opportunity in the Bay Area has become increasingly important and complex in these uncertain political times. Mobilizing our elected officials and the public at large will help us move the needle on creating shared prosperity, and yet we have heard from our partners that many do not have the expertise or resources to effectively craft that message based on research and best practice.

To help solve this, we are partnering with The Opportunity Agenda to help put effective tools into the hands of our partners, strengthening our collective movement for housing, education, employment and prosperity for all.

The Opportunity Agenda is a social justice communication lab working to move hearts, minds, and policy for lasting change. Over the past 10 years, they have trained and presented to over 10,000 social justice leaders on their strategies and techniques for narrative development, framing and messaging, public opinion and media research, policy and advocacy, and media spokesperson preparation.

In this workshop, they will focus on:

  • How to use values, affirmative stories, and a solutions-oriented approach to shift narratives around economic opportunity

  • Using their proven format to craft compelling messages for strategic audiences.

  • Sharing recent research around overcoming narratives of fear and embracing our shared future.

Bring a specific campaign or issue you want to communicate about and you will leave with an effective message for media, marketing and communications!
