Stouffville Medical Centre is proud to provide our patients with flu immunizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our drive-thru clinics, which have been operating since the beginning of the pandemic, provide a safe and efficient way to receive needed immunizations, all while complying with current social distancing guidelines. Register for your flu shot today! If there are currently no options available, please check back as we plan additional clinics.

Drive-Thru Immunization Clinic Terms & Conditions

In registering for a Drive-Thru Immunization Clinic, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Patient Attestation

INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE UNWELL IN ANY WAY SHOULD NOT ATTEND THE DRIVE-THRU CLINIC. Specifically, individuals should NOT attend if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

1. Fever
2. Cough
3. Shortness of breath
4. Sore throat
5. Runny nose in the absence of seasonal allergies (6) Hoarse voice
6. Difficulty swallowing
7. New smell or taste disorder(s)
8. Nausea / vomiting
9. Diarrhea
10. Abdominal pain
11. Unexplained fatigue / malaise
12. Chills
13. Headaches

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms on the day of the clinic DO NOT ATTEND and instead reschedule for a later clinic.

No Previous Adverse Reactions

Only individuals who have never had an adverse reaction to an immunization should register for this event. Examples of adverse reactions include, but are not limited to:

• Fainting (Syncope or Presyncope)
• Shortness of Breath, Chest Tightness or Wheezing
• Nausea / Vomiting
• Swelling of the Lips, Tongue or Throat
• Other Severe Allergy or Anaphylaxis

Those who have had these reactions in the past should not register for this event, and should instead register for a non drive-thru clinic, or speak to their family physician directly to arrange for an in-person immunization.

Individuals who have a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome within 6 weeks of immunization, or who have a new or changing neurological disorder should also not receive a flu immunization.

Monitoring for Adverse Reactions

All individuals attending the event are recommended to remain on site for a minimum of 15 minutes following receipt of their immunization to monitor for adverse reactions. Parking spaces will be made available to accommodate for this waiting period. Participants are asked to activate their car horn should they experience any adverse reactions, at which point a nurse, physician or other health care professional will be available for assessment.

Paediatric Considerations for First Time Flu Shot

The flu shot is recommended in all children age >6 months old. To maximize their protection, it is recommended that children >6 months old and <9 years old that are receiving the flu shot for the first time also receive a second flu shot a minimum of 28 days after the first shot. Please speak with your physician about arranging a booster shot.
