Description

Storytime at Morven

$10 per family; Free with Family membership (unless otherwise noted)
Ages 2 to 6; Spaces limited to 12 children

May 31: Become a Worm Farmer with Winnie Finn!
Spring is the perfect time to start digging under rocks looking for red wriggly earthworms! We’ll meet a girl who is earthworm crazy when we read Winnie Finn, Worm Farmer by Carol Brendler. Then, we’ll take a walk in Morven’s garden looking for earthworms (weather permitting). All children will go home with instructions and some materials for starting their own mini backyard worm farm.

June 14: Meadow Dance with the Butterflies!
Can you imagine falling asleep in a meadow and waking up surrounded by a blanket of butterflies? That’s exactly what we will do when we read Dennis Rockhill’s beautifully illustrated Meadow Dance and create our own butterfly wings to fly away home! We’ll read and create outside (weather permitting) in Morven’s gardens! All craft materials supplied.

June 28: Birdwatching at Morven!
This storytime takes us out into Morven’s gardens to do some birdwatching! Rita Gray’s Have You Heard the Nesting Bird? introduces children to the world of bird sounds and secrets. Following our reading, we will search for bird’s nests and create our own nest from materials to take home! All craft materials supplied.

June’s Storytimes are read by Morven’s Curator of Education and Public Programs Debra Lampert-Rudman and one of Morven’s docents and are followed by visits to Morven’s gardens and special take-home crafts! Bring along a hat and your favorite blanket for storytime!
