September 28Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site and Mighty, Mighty Construction Site, by Sherri Duskey Rinker

“What’s all that hammering going on at Morven?” Find out when we host our special Construction Site Storytime! We are building the Stockton Education Center where we will host lots of events and programs starting Spring 2018! For now, we will enjoy reading picture books Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site and Mighty, Mighty Construction Site, both by Sherri Duskey Rinker, read by our Curator of Education and Public Programs in Morven’s Garden Room. Yellow “construction hard hats” and small construction trucks will be given to all participants before we walk through the garden following our stories to take a peek at our construction site with Morven Facilities Manager Brian Mackiw! Hats and Trucks are take-home souvenirs!

October 12 Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell and Too Many Pumpkins by Linda White

Our stories in the Garden Room feature Pumpkin Jack, written and illustrated by Will Hubbell, and Too Many Pumpkins, written by Linda White and illustrated by Megan Lloyd. Pumpkin Jack is the tale of a Halloween pumpkin and how his life changes over time. Too Many Pumpkins is a humorous harvest story about learning to find joy where you least expect it. Join us as we “harvest” pumpkins in our garden! Every child goes home with a mini pumpkin of their own!

November 2 Duck for President by Doreen Cronin and Splat the Cat for President by Rob Scotton

Duck is fed up with chores that leave him “picking tiny bits of grass and espresso beans out of his feathers.” So with a sign that reads “Farmer Brown Must Go! Farm Election Tomorrow!” the ambitious bird throws his hat in the ring. Join us and get ready for Election Day as our Curator of Education and Public Programs, Debi Lampert-Rudman reads Duck for President, written by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin, and Rob Scotton’s Splat the Cat for President. Following our stories we will have a special craft and our own “barnyard” election in Morven’s Garden Room! Weather-permitting, we may also take an “after voting” stroll in our Garden.

November 16 – Thanksgiving Tales (books TBD)

As home to a large number of families throughout hundreds of years, Morven has seen many joyous Thanksgiving celebrations. Please join us as we host our first Thanksgiving Storytime in our Garden Room featuring several special Thanksgiving tales. We will also create a “horn of plenty” to take home.
