About this event

Marching into its 4th successive year, AK Theatre is back with ‘AKT Festival 2019’ scheduled for the 13th of July at Woodlands Library, Singapore. As always, we commemorate this unique festival as a celebration of story time in multiple languages. It is an annual storytelling event that leaves the audience refreshed and entertained, while asking for more.

AKT Festival 2019 will be presenting storytelling infused with traditional art forms, reflecting the speciality of each ethnic community in Singapore. Look out for fusions of culture in stories. Another speciality of the event is the ‘International Tamil Storytelling Vizha’ for multi-lingual audience. This is another first-of-its kind entry.

Stories create a special bonding between the teller and the listener and can have a huge influence on the young and old, alike. We have international storytellers, local tellers and young upcoming tellers to feature in the event. Our non-stop storytelling session, ‘Storython’ will have on-going stories narrated in 4 different languages of English, Chinese, Tamil and Malay for an uninterrupted stretch of 3 hours.

There is much more happening. Get set for an interactive workshop, have an open free chat with our renowned storytellers and await for more events connected with storytelling.

Ms. Jeeva Raghunath from India, Ms. Au Ting Wei from Malaysia, Mr. Ariyo Zidni from Indonesia and Ms. Shanthini Venugopal from Malaysia are the International Tellers who will be engaging the audience with their bountiful stories.

Ms. Rani Kanna, Ms. Kalah Rajesh Kannan, Ms. Jumaini, Ms. Akila Rajagopal and Ms. Krupa Vinayagamoorthi are our local tellers all set to grip the young-at-hearts with their deeply immersive stories.
