In partnership with the Enterprise Resource Center and NAMI Marin

Join us for an evening with stigma-fighting public speaker, musician, and author, Theresa Teller, as she shares her story of recovery, resilience, and living a life of thriving with mental illness. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind, heart-forward experience!

About the Speaker:

Theresa San Luis Teller fights stigma on a daily basis, coping with her diagnosis of

schizoaffective disorder with OCD and delusions. She was first diagnosed as a

sophomore at the University of Notre Dame with psychosis. There she earned B.A.'s in

English and music, and earned two master’s degrees: one in mass communication and

her second in public administration from Illinois colleges. She has been a public speaker

for NAMI since 2009 and does Tuning Out Stigma presentations, enhancing her story-

telling with original music on the piano. She is publishing a book titled “My Brain Makes

Me Proud: My Journey Through Schizoaffective Disorder and Anxiety” which will be

released January 19, 2026, on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Theresa will present how she met the various challenges in her life, such as overcoming

depression through improv comedy, writing and playing music as a form of therapy, and

praying and worshiping with her pastor husband, Nick, to find peace in her faith and

support in life. Medication and psychotherapy have proven invaluable and game-changing

for Theresa, who has been hospitalized four times since age 19. Today at 46,

she is going strong with a message of hope to cope with mental illness. She works in a

memory care unit as a life guidance program specialist at Atria Park and is the mother of

5-year-old twin daughters.
