A day of insightful discussion and Q & A on the latest ideas, innovations, and developments in the world of film and television -- featuring NYC-based industry professionals from all parts of the entertainment business. Ideal for media students seeking a career in film and television, and a great networking opportunity for pros and non-pros alike.

8:30 - 9:00am -- Registration

9:00 - 9:30am – Opening Remarks (Father Joseph McShane, President of Fordham Univ., Jackie Reich, Chair, Dept. of Comm. and Media Studies, Laura Berning, NY State Governor’s Office of Motion Picture & Television Development)

9:30 -11:00am – MADE IN NEW YORK: The Local Story

Union reps from various locals -- representing grips, gaffers, editors, cinematographers, camera operators, art directors, designers, wardrobe, location scouts and more -- will discuss what each crew member’s contribution is to the overall production process and how film/TV careers get started.

11:15 - 12:30pm -- SO YOU WANT TO BE A PRODUCER?

Film and television producers break down the many functions of a successful producer’s job–-from story development and financing to production and distribution. MODERATOR: Jim Jennewein

Lunch Break: 12:30 - 1:30pm

1:30 - 2:45pm—CUT TO THE FUTURE: The Convergence of Technology & Creativity (Room TBD)

A panel of creatives and executives will bring us up to speed on what’s happening out on the bleeding edge of the media landscape and how emerging digital technologies will alter and enhance storytelling and shape the future of content creation itself.

1:30 - 2:45pm – WORDS INTO PICTURES: Writers Speak! (12th Fl Lounge)

Writers from such TV series as Chicago Justice, Seinfeld, Law & Order: SUV, Melrose Place, and Diagnosis: Murder discuss the evolving nature of storytelling in series television and talk about what it takes to break into the business and build a career. MODERATOR: MORGAN GJOEN

3:00 – 4:15pm -- WOMEN IN MEDIA: The Future Is Female

A diverse mix of female professionals -- from both behind and in front of the camera – discuss the success women are having in breaking barriers and redefining old norms – and what attitudes and barriers are yet to be broken. Moderated by animation producer Christine Guest.

4:30 – 5:30pm -- Key Note Address and Q & A: TBD

Networking Reception: 5:30 – 6:30pm

An opportunity for students to speak one-on-one with the day’s panelists and special guests.
