Storytelling for Business
Mon, Apr 10, 2017, 7:00 PM – Mon, May 15, 2017, 9:00 PM EDT
Whether you're pitching investors, marketing your product, or going for the sale, there's one surefire way to captivate your audience and make them take action: Tell a good story.
The human brain is wired for stories. When you tell a good story, your audience can’t help but pay attention, remember, and share your message with others. Studies show that good storytelling drives sales because unlike facts and figures, story speaks directly to our feelings—allowing you to connect with your audience on an emotional level. In this 6-week class, we’ll review examples from pitch decks and presentations, content marketing and blog posts, print ads and Superbowl commercials, and you’ll learn how leading brands use storytelling to engage customers and drive revenue. You’ll come away with a unified brand story of your own, as well as a mastery of how to use storytelling techniques to captivate people and move them to action—whether it’s to work for you, hire you, buy your product, or invest in your company.
Monday evenings 7:00pm - 9:00pm
6 weeks from April 10 - May 15
“One of the top three creative writing classes I have ever taken—and the other two were full semesters’ worth. I’d definitely take any creative writing class or workshop by Jay. His class could easily turn into a TED Talk. He engages the entire class and remembers everyone’s name. He’s a great teacher because his delivery is flawless… devil is in the details.” —Rob Luciano, former student
WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING
“Jay’s class is the perfect place to workshop an essay, short story, screenplay, or anything in between. You can’t leave this class without learning at least one new thing about writing, regardless of your writing background or how long you’ve been pushing the pen. Jay pulls in lessons from movies, novels, and poems. I came out of Jay’s class with a creative energy that is rare in my day-to-day. I highly recommend Jay’s class for aspiring storytellers of all types!” —Erica Swallow, former student
