Description

Do you have a STORY to tell? Join us for a writing workshop with New York Times bestselling author Melanie Benjamin.

We’ll be reading The Turner House, a novel about an African-American family in Detroit, and what it takes to remain a family in challenging times. The story has two timelines — one in 1940 concerning the family patriarch’s journey north during the Great Migration, and the other in the present day as his children decide what to do about their family home.

We’ll discuss the book and how it pertains to our lives — and use this as a starting point for how we can write our own stories.
