From ideas to the page to the stage, the Story Story Studio breaks down the elements of electric live storytelling, so anyone can dig into powerful scenes from real experience, then boldly step into the spotlight, and tell it like it is. A Studio guide walks you through the steps to help you develop an engaging true story based on personal experience. So you can present your most authentic self to the world. All workshop attendees leave with a Studio kit. All ages with parent.

A lifelong word nerd with a wry/awkward sense of humor, Jessica Holmes is the co-founder and OG creative driving force & master of ceremonies behind Story Story Night—Boise’s live storytelling phenomenon. She not only drove the creation of the flagship season, but also the Story Story Studio workshop arm, the adults-only Story Story Late-Night season, the local-luminary-studded Starry Story Night special event, the mobile recording Story Story Booth, and the podcast. All while simultaneously running her own copywriting business. Now a senior copywriter for CLM Marketing & Advertising in Boise, she still puts words to work in standout ways that mean business. She’s an Idaho Business Review Accomplished Under 40 (2011), won the inaugural Boise’s Funniest Person stand-up comedy contest (2013), and was named the “Best Invitee To Your Next Cocktail Party” in Boise Weekly’s Best of Boise issue (2013). She’s been profiled (but not for criminal reasons) in both the Idaho Statesman and Boise Weekly. She posts about thrift store & vintage fashion, her cat, and other cheap-wad pursuits on her blog Cheep.
What is the last time you Jumped, tried something new or took a risk?
I’m sort of a vulnerability and wanderlust-y daredevil by nature, leading me on all sorts of unpredictable routes, usually fodder for the best stories. My biggest jump recently involved decisively quitting my tough-to-juggle “dream life”—self employment and stage popularity—to launch a new career that lifted the stuck (and broke) malaise in my life. Because, like that one song says, a change will do you good.
What is JUMP?
JUMP – or Jack’s Urban Meeting Place – is a not-for-profit, interactive creative center and community gathering place in the heart of downtown Boise. Please go to jumpboise.org to learn more.
This class is out of my price range, what can I do?
Offering affordable opportunities to everyone in the community is a key priority. We appreciate your patience as we work to develop a scholarship program.
Do you have accommodations for people with disabilities?
Absolutely. We support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and encourage participation by everyone. If you require special accommodations to participate in our programs or use our facilities, please email email@example.com.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
You may bus, bike, drive, walk, skip, etcetera. Check Boise's bus schedule at valleyride.org. We love bikers and have beautiful bike racks to secure your ride throughout the facility. Apologies, but our parking garage is still under construction and we do not have on-site parking at the moment. Paid parking will be available in the future. Parking options include the BoDo parking garage at 9th and Front and the garage by Hotel 43 located at 234 S 10th Street and Front. Please use the crosswalk at 9th and Broad Street to access JUMP. ADA parking available onsite, please email requests to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is the refund policy?
We depend on your enrollment for a successful class so please plan your schedule carefully. Classes which do not meet minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation. Refunds are issued in full if the class or program is cancelled, if you cancel at least seven days before the starting date of the class, or for documented medical reasons.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email email@example.com with any questions/concerns/compliments/puns.
