Event description

Description

WHO: UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County is partnering with the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) and the Kettering Foundation to conduct a stormwater issues forum. NAAEE and Kettering Foundation have teamed up to develop Environmental Issues Forums.

WHAT: A forum is simply a place, meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged. So, you might guess that an environmental issue forum is where people meet to discuss ideas around an environmental topic. For this forum, we will be talking all about stormwater. The Environmental Protection Agency defines stormwater as "Stormwater runoff is generated from rain and snowmelt events that flow over land or impervious surfaces, such as paved streets, parking lots, and building rooftops, and does not soak into the ground. The runoff picks up pollutants like trash, chemicals, oils, and dirt/sediment that can harm our rivers, streams, lakes, and coastal waters."

WHY: We want to get your view point and ideas about various stormwater issues, solutions and trade-offs to share with your elected officals. This particular forum is a test forum, so we will also be asking for your feedback on ways to improve your overall experience for future use.

Refreshments will be provided.

If you have any questions, please contact Trista Brophy, Sustainability Coordinator with the City of Oldsmar at tbrophy@myoldsmar.com or 813-749-1135

Note: We will need a minimum of 10 participants to conduct the forum. You will be notified within 24 hours of the event should it be canceled.
