Event description
Come learn how to protect your family, home or commercial building from intense storms, then talk to the right person to get the job done!

About this Event

Intense storms (e.g. tropical storms, hurricanes and “rain bombs”) bringing high winds, water and flooding are increasing in strength and frequency. Given our geographic isolation and limited shelter space, home and commercial building owners are encouraged to consider actions they can take to increase their ability to protect their families and property.

PICHTR, PRiMO and their partners are hosting a community info day to help the public understand the risks of intense storms, showcase tools and services for housing and commercial building retrofitting and disaster preparedness, and connect the community with companies and organizations that can help them.

The Info Day has two components:

● A presentation series for the public to learn about impacts of intense storms and what they can do to increase their ability to protect their families and property

● An exhibit area for the public to have one-on-one conversations with the companies and organizations to help them understand the risks they face and provide access to the information, products and services they need.

This is an event where the public can learn about what they need to do, then talk to the right person to get the job done!

Homeowners are encouraged to bring information about their building such as year of construction, whether their property is single- or double-walled, and whether it is in a high-hazard flood zone. This information can be used to determine suitable home strengthening retrofits which will help reduce potential property damage and make it more likely that you can shelter in place during a tropical storm or a hurricane.

We're excited to welcome the following exhibitors to the Storm & Disaster Preparedness Info Day. More will be announced as we get closer to the event!
