Stories without Roofs: Transitions
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
“Transitions” is a show consisting of the essays, monologues, poetry, songs, and general musings of residents of shelters in the city of Cambridge enrolled in the Stories Without Roofs Project. The performance will entail song, rap, spoken word, dialogue, and dance. The production will be directed by Misch Whitaker, assistant directed by Marcy Braidman, and will feature music by Marissa Wahkuna and choreography by Nailah Randall-Bellinger. It is a Ministry of Theater production. The show is slated to open on November 22nd and will have two performances (Friday night, Saturday night) with a potential for performances. Each performance will feature a talk-back with the authors of the pieces.
Stories Without Roofs exists to give a voice to the voiceless by telling the untold stories of homeless men and women. We hope residents of the Cambridge shelter system will have their life experiences affirmed through the sharing of their own stories- as they want them to be shared. SWR also strives to strengthen community bonds by inviting others to bear witness to these stories and to contemplate their meaning.
