Eman Schools presents its first theatrical production "Stories of our Youth"-an Islamic Six-Act Play written and directed by Mohamed Amin.
About this event
"Stories of our Youth" explores the complexities, awkwardness, hardships, and silver-linings of the journeys many Muslim youth face growing up in the United States. These overtly satirical and comedic stories allow for genuine conversations on the personal and interpersonal struggles of young Muslim people, as they navigate to find their right place in this world, and in their faith.
Written and Directed by Mohamed Amin, founder of the Lantern Islamic Theater Company. Hosted by Eman Schools, and funded by Alhuda Foundation. This production was conducted and organized by the Lantern Islamic Theater Company.
CONTENT WARNING: Some scenes in this play, while displayed seriously and educationally, imply or explicitly depicts child abuse. Other scenes may imply or explicitly depict moments of racism, xenophobia, sudden loud sounds or frightening actions, depictions of depression, and language that reference suicide. Our role as storytellers is convey these critical and sensitive issues in the most responsible and serious light as we can. REMINDER: Please arrive promptly to Eman School on Allisonville Road at 6:00pm, on Friday, August 12th or Saturday, August 13th. Doors open at 6:00pm, and the play officially starts at 6:30pm. Tickets will also be sold at the school, which is $10 per person.
