About this Event
Want to Be a Better Public Speaker?
Want to keep people’s attention?
Want to influence people’s behavior?
Then learn to craft and tell a story, well!
Do you have a story that matters to you, that you would like to tell to the people who matter to you?
The Storytellers Channel can help you tell it, so well; that you’ll be asked to tell it, again.
Why Tell Stories?
Stories are the currency of humanity.
Stories are how we relate to one another.
Our stories convey our values.
Stories have the capacity to bypass resistance, to move others from compliance to commitment.
We use our stories to bond our communities.
So the question shouldn't be why tell stories, but -
How Can I Tell My Stories Better?
Practice. Develop Your Skills. And a sure fire way to do that is to participate in The Storytellers Channel’s Stories Matter! Workshop
What’s involved?
Workshop participants meet Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 10:00 PM for four weeks under the tutelage of The Storytellers Channel’s Founding Storyteller, Gayle Turner.
Wednesday January 8, 15, 22, 29, 2020.
He provides the participants with his PowerPoint: Thoughts on Crafting A Story detailing not only structure, but the process he follows for developing stories.
Participants are asked to stand up and tell their story.
Gayle provides constructive feedback and encourages the other storytellers to do the same.
Only three types of feedback is allowed.
1. I liked X.
2. I didn't understand X.
3. I'd like to hear more about X.
The storytellers provide a safe audience for each other.
Also, the process of offering feedback strengthens their understanding of structure aiding in the development of their stories.
Participants are encouraged to tell their story, out loud, once a day, every day between the weekly workshop meetings.
Because telling a story is a lot like recounting a movie you see in your mind’s eye.
Everything seems so clear and then you begin to speak, and transitions become muddy, the situation becomes confused and that which seemed so simple becomes complicated.
The creative process of crafting a story and learning to tell it well is one of iteration.
So, you test different ways you can tell your story until you discover the best way.
Then What Happens?
You invite your family and friends to hear you tell your story.
Your performance will be video recorded and archived at StorytellersChannel.com.
And if you're like many of our storytellers you Rinse & repeat.
One More Reason to Join Us
It's fun! And you'll be joining a community of folks who say the camaraderie experienced through the process was even more rewarding than learning to tell their story well.
