About this Event

WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO TRY TO STOP THE CONSTANT FLOW OF MEN AND SUPPLIES

DOWN THE HO CHI MINH TRAIL?

ASK SOMEONE WHO DID THAT, ABOVE THE TRAIL IN A-6A INTRUDERS

The Cold War Museum, in cooperation with Old Bust Head Brewing Company, invites you to attend a presentation by Dave Bena on

STOPPING THE FLOW ON THE HO CHI MINH TRAIL

The Vietnam War, a war that touched millions of Americans, is the casing for David Bena's presentation, "Stopping the Flow of People and Supplies along the Ho Chi Minh Trail." Bena will speak from the mindset of those serving in the armed forces during the late 1960s. His topic will include political considerations regarding the bombing of the Trail and detailed descriptions of the bombing campaigns in North Vietnam, Laos, and South Vietnam, including an account of his life and thoughts as a bombardier/navigator making nightly air strikes in hostile territory.

The Rt. Rev. David Bena is a retired Anglican bishop presently serving as the senior pastor of Immanuel Anglican Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. Upon completion of his bachelor's degree in 1965, Bena was commissioned a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He received Naval Flight Officer wings and served as a bombardier/navigator aboard the A-6A Intruder aircraft, during which time he spent a tour in Vietnam conducting air strikes in North Vietnam, Laos, and South Vietnam. Following his service in the Marine Corps, he attended Virginia Theological Seminary and became an Air Force chaplain. He retired from active military service in 1992. His subsequent work was as a parish pastor, followed by service in several jurisdictions as a bishop.

His education includes a Bachelor's in History/Education from Stetson University, a Master in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary, a Doctor in Ministry from Graduate Theological Foundation, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College. The bishop is from Schuylerville, New York; he is married with three children and six grandchildren.
