Can we slow the invasion of insect pests?

Josh Vlach (Oregon Department of Agriculture)

In Oregon, we have found over 100 exotic invertebrates established in Oregon since 2007. Many of the important invertebrate pests we deal with in our gardens and landscape are exotic species, and we continue to bring in new pests. There is no sign of a slowing of the invasion. We will discuss established exotic pests and their impacts, new Oregon arrivals, and those on the near horizon. We will end the session discussing practical ways to work toward stopping this endless invasion.
