Event description

Description

In October 2015, the White House launched its Stop the Bleed campaign—a special national initiative designed to provide bystanders with the tools and knowledge to stop life-threatening bleeding.

Research has shown that bystanders, with little or no medical training, can become heroic lifesavers. Uncontrolled bleeding injuries can result from natural and manmade disasters as well as from everyday accidents.

Providing bystanders with basic tools and information on the simple steps they can take in an emergency situation to stop life threatening bleeding can save lives.

Similar to the use of CPR or automatic defibrillators, improving public awareness about how to stop severe bleeding and expanding personal and public access to Bleeding Control Kits can be the difference between life and death for an injured person.

Attendees can select from any one of four sessions on March 31, 2018, 9am-10am, 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm or 2pm-4pm. Each session is two hours in length and identical to the other sessions. Instruction is divided evenly with one hour of classroom instruction using audio visual enhancements and is then followed by one hour of hands-on practice using simulated props. Upon completion of the two hour session, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion.

No minimum age is required to attend. However, due to the graphic nature of the material a responsible parent or guardian's permission is recommended prior to attending.
