Event description

Description

Spend the morning with NHMLA and L.A. County Parks and Recreations staff at the brand new Stoneview Nature Center as we conduct the first wildlife survey in the park. Stoneview Nature Center is located in Culver City within the Baldwin Hills. The park is an important linkage along the 13 mile Park to Playa trail and corridor, which will connect the Baldwin Hills to the Pacific Ocean. The Stoneview Nature Center was recently restored and plants are still establishing so this is a great time to get some baseline biodiversity data so that we can continue to track it over time. NHMLA scientists and educators will be on hand to answer all of your wildlife questions and guide you during the wildlife searches. Participants will learn how to use the iNaturalist smartphone app, where to search for wildlife, and even how to photograph them in the name of science! The day will end with a debrief, accompanied by refreshments.
