About this Event

The Natural Stones:

We will be showcasing our natural whetstone selection for an informal instructional on using natural Japanese whetstones with a big variety available to try and purchase at a 15% discount. If you have never put a knife to a natural whetstone, this will be a fantastic opportunity! Or if you are already using them to try some new stones.

Bring a knife or use one of ours.

This event is free of charge but please get a ticket so we can better plan.

The Donabe and Soup:

The idea behind this event is based on the folk story where a hungry traveler comes to a town and would like to have something to eat. He puts a stone in a boiling pot of water and people ask him what he is preparing? He says he is making stone soup, and as the people of the village each added something small it became a feast. Generosity is the at the core of the story and in our intention to share our experience with natural stone sharpening.

We will be having one of our Donabe’s rolling for the entire event. Bring something to add to the pot, or simply come and enjoy the delicious flavor brought out by the special iga clay of the donabe.
