Event description

Description

Join Stockpiler at The Hoxton for an evening of interactive, site-specific art installations throughout Portland's newest posh boutique hotel. Visitors are invited to explore and discover multiple textile installations meandering about from some of Portland’s brightest textile artists, including Stephanie Brachmann, Annabelle McCall, Hyun Jung Jung, Holly Mueller, and Eli West. Eli West's Installation will include multiple felted vessels from 6 inches to 4 feet with floral arrangements by local flower farm InClay Co. Also not to miss are several large-scale sculptural macrame works by Holly Mueller in collaboration with local builders LR Design Co. Plus, large soft sculpture pillows by Stephanie Brachmann, and ethereal silk panel’s batiked and lasercut by Annabelle McCall. Also on view is a fully immersible interactive textile project by Hyun Jung Jung that includes an upholstered “slouch chair” from Revive Design and Upholstery covered in a knitted textile produced by Hyun Jung Jung. The pattern of the machine-knit textile will be based off answers given in a “confession booth.” Those answers will be translated into 0s and 1s by collaborator Dasol Kim. The binary code will then be used to produce punch cards that Hyun Jung Jung will use with her knitting machine to inform the random pattern. Visitors are invited to participate in the project by answering two questions via computer. Their input enables her project to continue through the month, culminating with her final textile artwork.
