Event description

Description

Join us on 19–20 November for Stockholm Civil Society Days (SCSD) 2019!

The pledge to Leave No One Behind (LNOB) stands as the underpinning principle of the 2030 Agenda with the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. We know that civil society organizations play a fundamental role in identifying, supporting and advocating for groups that are not otherwise seen or heard.

Stockholm Civil Society Days 2019 – Change and Action to Leave No One Behind – offers participants a possibility to set a joint perspective on pressing concerns, such as the persisting level of inequalities, which is often considered as one of the greatest threats to the realization of the 2030 Agenda. The event targets representatives working for or with civil society organizations engaged in Swedish development cooperation. The aim is to build on what has already been accomplished through civil society participation and engagement and drive joint efforts and action. As such, we will strive to challenge ourselves and to question old truths. We will strive to concertize both challenges and solutions for civil society in advancing the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. In concrete terms we aim to uncover the following:

  • Role of civil society in securing Leave No One Behind
  • Change: Obstacles and potential restrictions (e.g. civic space, resources, climate change)
  • Action: Opportunities and strategies to transform (e.g. positive examples, partnerships)

The two-day program includes plenary sessions and panels as well a wide variety of parallel sessions/workshops, which all will be incorporating interactive methods. SCSD is a unique occasion to network and share best practices on civil society's engagement in international development cooperation.

Join us and contribute to the discussions, let us together identify the true challenges and solutions for civil society to pave way for Leaving No One Behind! Please register by 15th of November 2019.
