"Doing and Understanding the Stock Selection Guide"
This program year the Kansas City Chapter of BetterInvesting will be using BetterInvesting software to teach the Stock Selection Guide (SSG). Emphasis will be on understanding the SSG, how to identify good quality growth stocks, where and how to exercise judgment to determine the correct price to pay for a stock if purchasing, using suggested research sites found on the internet, and importing the data using MorningStar Stock Data Services.
The Stock Selection Guide II (SSG) Class is a continuation of SSG I. SSG II completes the back of the Guide. Evaluating Management is analyzed and examined more thoroughly and it is on the back that we determine a P/E and price range for an acceptable buying opportunity, calculate the Relative Value, determine the amount of risk, if bought, estimate the average yield, and the compound total return.
SSG I & II can also be used as a refresher course if you need a brush up on your understanding of the SSG. Please bring pens or pencils and calculators to each class.
The Stock Selection Handbook will be available for purchase at all classes for $15, or you can purchase it online at the BetterInvesting Store before attending classes. Each class costs $25 for members and $30 for non-members and everyone will receive a printed PowerPoint handout of each presentation.
For those who would still like to complete the SSG manually, the SSG III class will be offered later. SSG III is designed for persons wanting to learn how to complete the SSG by hand vs. using the software.

Kansas City Chapter; Better Investing
The KC Chapter covers the western half of Missouri and all of Kansas.
The KC Chapter is made up of local volunteers. Our primary goal is investor education for our clubs and members in Western Missouri and Kansas. We assist in the formation of new clubs, visit established clubs for training and trouble-shooting, and conduct training sessions for members and the public. Classes on screening for growth companies and how to analyze the companies fundamentals are conducted throughout our geographical area for both Better Investing Members and Non-Members.
