Event description

Description

The groundwork for Still Got Game (SGG) began in 2004 through the desire of J.H. rose Alumnus and letterman, Mack Walston, and former D.H. Conley standout, Darryl "Sparerib" Daniels, to coordinate a charitable Alumni game featuring their respective Alma Maters. Coordinator Pamela M. Foreman informed the gentlemen that she specialized in double-elimination tournaments and would be interested in undertaking this project if they commit to participating in and agree to enlist the support of other former athletes. After peaking the interest of Darrick Mullins (North Pitt Alumnus and Pitt Community College Men's Basketball Coach) James Rankins and Erick Edwards (J.H. Rose Men's Basketball Coaches), the Still Got Game OLD SCHOOL Basketball Tournament was born.

The first Tournament in 2006 featured 10 teams and has quickly reached it's maximum capacity of 20 teams in 2011. An event that began as a fundraiser for the J.H. Rose Varsity Men's Basketball Program now proudly partners with various student athletic and enrichment efforts within the local community. Community partners to date include: J.H. Rose Varsity Men's Basketball (Greenville, NC), South Central Varsity Women's Basketball (Winterville, NC), Hoops & Hope Enrichment Program (Pitt County), Farmville Central Varsity Cheerleaders (Farmville, NC), Ayden-Grifton Marching Band (Ayden, NC), North Edgecombe Varsity MEn's Basketball (Leggett, NC), and Ligon Magnet School of the Arts Reading Enrichment Program (Raleigh, NC).
