Description

Teach Your Students about How Technology Works in Fall 2018

Looking for a way to teach students about technology and how it works without focusing on coding?

Registration is now open for Stichting NewTechKids' teacher training program which will help primary school teachers in the Netherlands introduce computer science in the context of 21st century skills into their school curriculum during Fall 2018. Our brand of computer science covers the science and principles behind technology as well as technological literacy which is the ability to analyze the pros, cons and implications of technology.

The program will consist of six (6) teacher training sessions in Amsterdam combined with active teaching in the classroom. Stichting NewTechKids will provide teachers with computer science theory and four lesson plans and then coach them on how to teach these lessons to students ages four to 12. All training and teaching resources will be available via Share to Teach, our online teacher training platform.

Important to note: none of the lessons provided require computers or technology. They are based on pen and paper exercises, arts and crafts activities, DIY sessions and games. They can be taught as a special project or integrated into other subjects.

This program will be taught in English so participants must be able to understand, speak and read basic English.

Registration will be open until Friday, September 21, 2018. A limited amount of spaces are available for this program so please register asap.

Eligibility Rules

The program is open to full-time, primary school teachers from Dutch public schools and international schools in the Netherlands. Teachers in training, Interns and substitute teachers are not eligible to participate. All participants will be carefully vetted.

The program has been designed specifically for teachers who have never taught technology or coding-related lessons before.
