Event description

Description

The Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) is pleased to offer free training in sexual abuse prevention & detection to members of the community who interact with children in the course of their day. The curriculum is called "Stewards of Children," from a nonprofit organization called Darkness to Light. Stewards of Children is an evidence-informed, adult-focused prevention training solution for communities and youth-serving organizations. Attendees learn to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

Who should attend--anyone! Any adult from the community who wishes to be more knowledgable about child sexual abuse. (This training is approved nationally for 2 hours of continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists, nurses and social workers.)

Protecting children from sexual abuse is not only our moral duty, but the responsibility of every adult. Adult education is key to preventing child sexual abuse. The training empowers people to make good choices about protecting children, to take risks to protect them and to help create an active, educated community that protects children. Studies show that a reactive approach does not work—only 31% of children tell someone within the first year.
