If you are considering starting a business or in the early stages of launching one, this workshop will outline everything you need to know.

In this workshop, you will:

• Develop your business idea and planning

• Review the importance of a business plan

• Gain an understanding of the process and requirements for starting a business, including;

• Legal structures

• How to obtain an employer identification number, licenses, permits and insurance

• Determining your financing needs

• Understanding employer responsibilities

• Learn about available resources and training

• How to choose and register a business name and entity

You will leave the session with an A-to-Z overview, and specific tools and tips that will help you get started quickly.

Edwidge Lafleur is the Director of the Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) – Eastern Massachusetts. She joined CWE back in 2013 to support the organization’s growth and its successful delivery and administration of competitive and innovative programs for women, minority and low income entrepreneurs in the greater Boston area.

Edwidge has over 25 years of experience in business/economic development, and project management working for organizations such as Harvard Medical International (HMI), and Action Aid. She is also a former entrepreneur who effectively launched and managed 2 businesses.

She holds a degree in Development Economics and International Relations from the University of Miami. She’s fluent in 4 languages: French, English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
